Reviewing Research Methods in the Field of Social Sciences from the University of Glasgow, UK
Primary tabs
.The Social Studies Education Study Program opens opportunities for discussion on research in the social sciences. The discussion began with a public lecture with Dr. Clare McManus from the University of Glasgow, England on Wednesday (3/21/2018) with the theme "Research Methods in Social Sciences". The Public Lecture was attended by more than 40 students who filled the UNY Postgraduate courtroom moderated by Dr. Amika Wardana.
Dr. Clare explained how to start research in the social realm that begins with making questions and looking for social problems that are around us. Searching can be found very easily, ranging from newspaper, television and online media. The main point to emphasize is finding questions in the form of problems that can be solved through research. The questions raised must be detailed and specific in order to facilitate researchers in finding solutions through research.
Submission using a thick British accent in the discussion, became its own attraction for students who attended. Can be seen from the enthusiasm of students in asking questions and discussions related to the thesis research they are currently facing. Students who ask, not only get answers from Dr. Clare but also received a prize in the form of USB from the University of Glasgow. The discussion which lasted only for almost 100 minutes, discussed only the outside of the research methods in social science. Dr. Clare hopes "I hope I can continue this material in the next meeting," he said. (dwgt)
